We have recently converted this brand new SWB T6.1 for a couple with a special requirement, an adjustable bed!
This camper conversion was based on a SWB T28 Highline and arrived with us complete with standard wheels, suspension and it's metal bulkhead in place.
In the front, it was fitted with a drivers seat and a twin passenger seat finished in cloth.
The base vehicle was stripped out and holes were cut for the pop top roof, side and rear windows. The vehicle was double insulated and ply panelled before being fitted out.
Externally, the finished vehicle was finished with side bars, diamond cut alloy wheels, lowered suspension and a front splitter.
The twin passenger seat was replaced with a matching captain chair and both seat were finished in two tone grey leather with cross stitching and VW logos on the headrests.
The passenger seat was fitted with a swivel to face into the main cabin area.
The rear sliding California bed system, with storage drawer, was trimmed to match the front seats.
As with all of our conversions, we have maximised the storage space with cupboards and drawers in all of the available spaces.
Cabinets were finished in grey lightweight ply with white Corian worktops and pale grey splashbacks. This conversion has a low voltage fridge, 2 ring gas burner with stainless steel sink and chopping board. There are plenty of 240v and USB power outlets and LED lighting.
Windows are fitted with blackout blinds and the opening ones have additional mosquito nets too. There is a diesel heater to stay comfortable all year round.
This camper has 2 table options, the main table is stowed in the tailgate and clips to the side of the kitchen unit and the occasional table fits to the door pillar and can swivel accordingly.
With the Pop top open, this camper has room for additional storage or a second double bed or, with the quilted bed board pushed up there is enough headroom to easily stand up whilst using the kitchen.
The pop top has been fitted with roof bars for extra convenience.
At the rear there is additional access to the wardrobe and gas locker and there is plenty of room to carry your stuff above and below the parcel shelf.
luggage space can be increased by sliding the seat forward and lifting or removing the parcel shelf.
The California bed will lay completely flat, using the parcel shelf for the full length, this camper has the additional option of being able to raise and lower the head end of the bed, this makes it great for reading in bed especially with the individual LED reading lights.
As well as a split charge system with mains hook-up, this camper is fitted with a solar panel between the roof bars to top up the battery when camping off-grid.
A wind out Fiamma awning offers protection from the weather...
...and is fitted with a full length LED light strip for convenience when sitting out at night.
